Discovery - LP
Discovery is Ra Ra Riot singer Wes Miles and Vampire Weekend keyboardist/producer Rostam Batmanglij. LP is their debut album out XL Recordings July 7th. I’ve been itching for bass heavy, distorted fun pop music like this for a long time. Passion Pit scratched it when they dropped “Sleepyhead” but nothing they have put out since has done it for me like Discovery. Don’t get me wrong I love Passion Pit but they struck a chord with the mix of banging dance beats, spastic distorted synths and heartfelt vocals with “Sleepyhead” that they have yet to replicate in their other work. Guest vocals by Dirty Projectors’ Angel Deradoorian and fellow Vampire Weekender Ezra Koenig. Check out Carby below for the resurrection of auto-tune.
